About this record
Large Professor's 1st Class is one of the most beloved and sought-after albums of the early 2000s New York underground — a record that never got the wide physical release it deserved. Originally issued in 2002 on Matador Records, the album showcases Extra P at his peak as both an MC and producer, with guest appearances from Nas, Q-Tip, Busta Rhymes, and Akinyele. For over two decades, original copies have been nearly impossible to find at a reasonable price. That changes now. This first-ever reissue is essential for hip-hop heads and serious collectors alike.
- A landmark release from one of hip-hop's greatest producer/MC combinations, featuring Nas, Q-Tip, Busta Rhymes, and Akinyele.
- The first-ever reissue of this long out-of-print classic.
- Newly expanded to a gatefold 2xLP, making this the definitive physical edition of the album.
- Includes an exclusive limited 7-inch of "Stay Chisel" featuring Nas (vocal / instrumental), housed inside the jacket and never previously available on wax.
- Presented with all-new artwork, offering a fresh visual identity on a beloved piece of Queens hip-hop history.

Seam splits on record jackets are a common occurrence with vinyl: we cannot issue refunds or replacements for seam splits. We use sturdy mailers and stiffeners to minimise risk but to 100% avoid seam splits, we have added a notes section at checkout where you can request jacket-less shipping, or you can email us after placing your order — we’ll gladly accommodate this free of charge.
