About this record
A Matter of Time is the Grammy-nominated follow-up to Protoje’s critically acclaimed 2015 album Ancient Future. A defining voice in the reggae revival movement, Protoje continues to push boundaries with this powerful and politically conscious record.
Produced by Winta James (known for work with Damian Marley, Anthony B, and The Mighty Diamonds) and recorded in Jamaica, the album showcases Protoje’s lyrical agility and signature fusion of roots reggae, hip-hop, and modern dancehall.
A Matter of Time features standout collaborations with Chronixx on the fiery opener ‘Flames’ and the introspective ‘No Guarantee’, as well as Mortimer on the soul-stirring anthem ‘Truths & Rights’. The album includes a run of powerful singles such as ‘Blood Money’, a sharp critique of systemic corruption, the smooth groove of ‘Bout Noon’, and the reflective ‘Lessons’.
With razor-sharp social commentary, rich production, and timeless melodies, A Matter of Time is a testament to Protoje’s evolution as both an artist and a voice for the times.
