Bang or Ball

Bang or Ball is the fifth studio album by Mack 10, released in 2001, marking his collaboration with Cash Money Records. With this project, the Inglewood (Los Angeles) rapper builds a true bridge between the West Coast and the Dirty South, blending the raw street energy of L.A. with the heavy, club-oriented sound of the Southern U.S.

The album is largely produced by Mannie Fresh, an iconic figure of the Dirty South and the sonic mastermind behind Cash Money. It delivers a powerful mix of deep basslines, bouncy rhythms, and early trap influences, all wrapped in Mack 10's unmistakable gangsta attitude.

Bang or Ball represents a key moment in Mack 10's career, as he expands his audience through the Cash Money alliance while staying true to his West Coast roots.

The album features an impressive lineup, bringing together heavyweights like Ice Cube, WC, E-40, and Scarface alongside Dirty South rising stars such as Lil Wayne, B.G., the Big Tymers, and Turk, perfectly embodying the fusion of the two scenes.

Standout tracks include:

Connected for Life, a classic West Coast banger produced by Mannie Fresh featuring Ice Cube and WC.

Hate in Yo Eyes, a dark, hard-hitting track produced by Dr. Dre.

Do the Damn Thing, a Dirty South anthem with contagious energy, reflecting Cash Money's influence on the album.

A hybrid project that perfectly captures a pivotal moment in hip-hop, when the Dirty South was rising to dominance and regional collaborations were reshaping the American rap landscape.
