Cover Girl

She stole the show at North Sea Jazz as recently as July with her irrepressible personality and striking orange hair. Now, Lady Wray returns with Cover Girl—an album that sees her taking her artistry to new heights and making some of the best music of her life.

“My next step is my best step,” she sings on the album opener, “My Best Step,” setting the tone for a free-spirited, feel-good ride through soul, disco, hip-hop, R&B and gospel.

Cover Girl draws on the glittering sounds of ’60s and ’70s soul and disco, the groove of ’90s hip-hop and R&B, and—perhaps most notably—the uplifting power of gospel. The result is a joyful, soulful and deeply personal record that celebrates confidence, self-love, family and finding your way back to yourself.

Produced by Leon Michels, Cover Girl features musical contributions from Homer Steinweiss, Nick Movshon, Marco Benevento and Brainstory.
