God Takes Care Of Babies & Fools

A true innovator who elevated the art of rhyme to new levels of complexity, Myka 9 emerged in the early 1990s with influential Los Angeles collective Freestyle Fellowship. After the group sparked California's underground hip-hop movement with dazzling jazz-inflected flows, Myka launched an ambitious solo career, further developing his singular style while working with Talib Kweli, Cut Chemist, Prefuse 73, Busdriver, Open Mike Eagle, and more. Blu took inspiration from pioneers like Freestyle Fellowship in crafting the next generation of electric lyricism, becoming a remarkably consistent presence in the modern L.A. rap scene. The talented emcee's deep catalog of intricate rhymes includes four classics with Exile, plus albums produced by Evidence, Madlib, Nottz, Oh No, and more. Now, Myka 9 and Blu are joining forces for the new album God Takes Care Of Babies & Fools. The collection is produced by Mono En Stereo, a renowned NYC beatmaker who has crafted music for De La Soul, Action Bronson, Mos Def, Your Old Droog, Homeboy Sandman, and more. With Mono's organic sampler concoctions providing an ideal canvas, Blu and Myka's rapid-fire linguistics explode into vibrant technicolor, animated by a consistent spiritual undercurrent. With an epic posse cut uniting Freestyle Fellowship and The Pharcyde plus appearances by Planet Asia, Abstract Rude, Exile, and A-F-R-O, God Takes Care Of Babies & Fools is an exhilarating collage of rap brilliance.
