Special Sound Series Vol. 2

Originally released in 1975, The Word II is the cult classic electone album by Shigeo Sekito, now revered as one of the most iconic and widely sampled works in Japanese electronic music history. Long beloved in crate-digging circles, the album reached global ears when “The Word II” was famously sampled by Mac DeMarco in Chamber of Reflection and later by Travis Scott and Quavo’s HUNCHO JACK in How U Feel.

The record is a dreamlike, melodic journey filled with glowing vintage tones and haunting ambiance—seamlessly connecting listeners from hip-hop heads to Balearic DJs to dream pop fans. Whether reinterpreting Western classics or delivering original compositions, Sekito’s mastery of the electone keyboard resonates across generations.
