Wanted Dread or Alive is the fifth studio album by Jamaican reggae legend Peter Tosh, released in 1981. The album is a powerful showcase of Tosh’s distinctive roots reggae sound, combining socially conscious lyrics, political messages and infectious reggae rhythms.
The album features the standout tracks “Coming in Hot,” “Nothing But Love,” “Reggae-Mylitis” and the title track “Wanted Dread and Alive.” Tosh continues his outspoken commentary on social injustice, inequality, freedom and resistance, while also exploring themes of love and spirituality.
Wanted Dread or Alive captures Peter Tosh’s uncompromising approach to reggae and remains an essential release from one of the genre’s most influential and politically conscious artists.
